IM Special Sauce : The Key Difference Between Coaching and Training

It seems so easy on the surface. Want to get in shape? Do some pushups, jumping-jacks, maybe jog a bit. No problem, right? You do great for a couple days, then…the old habits come back. No biggie, you’ll get back at it tomorrow. Looking to build wealth? Just gotta throw some money into the savings account, maybe buy a stock or two. It can’t be that hard, can it? But time goes by and…it’s not quite working out the way you thought it would. What about relationships? A little more effort is probably all it takes. Of course, if the other person just got their shit together, there wouldn’t be a problem in the first place, right?

Okay, let’s come back down to the real world, shall we? If you’re looking to improve a key aspect of your life, Heath and Body, Money and Career, Relationships, there usually isn’t an overnight solution. It’s going to take some work. You might engage the services of a coach. There are all kinds of coaches out there. Physical fitness coaches, financial coaches, even relationship coaches. And a coach can be very valuable, offering qualified information and advice. But if you want to uplevel your experience of life to the realm of mastery, you’re going to need more than coaching. You need training. And believe me, there is a difference.

At IMS we do three things: We Rewire, Train, and Align the Emotions, the Thought Strategies and the Nervous System so that you can create the life you choose. By Train we mean more than just following the advice of a coach or doing the same thing over and over again, hoping for a new result. Our training process consists of four parts that have been proven time and again to produce desired outcomes.

1: Understanding. We first make sure you have a clear understanding of the IMS tool, technique, or strategy you’re executing and why exactly you’re doing it. So for example, if we’re training emotional awareness, we're going to start building awareness by observing, in any given moment, whether our emotional experience is love-based/expanded or fear-based/contracted. The reason we do this is, we cannot change what we cannot see - we build awareness and sensitivity to emotions in order to take the next step, which is to train the ability to shift an emotion when it doesn't align us with vision. Understanding what we’re doing and why gives us permission and motivation to actually do it.

2: Experience. Now that you know what to do and why you’re doing it, it’s time to experience the IMS tool, technique, or strategy by executing it. Makes sense, right? You can understand, in theory, how to swing a golf club. You can watch the pros and read the books and understand the mechanics all day long. But until you actually plant your feet, grip the driver, wind up, swing, and in my case, yell “Fore!”...you haven’t actually executed the technique, you haven’t experienced it. Our training is experiential in nature. We get you executing the techniques right away in all our training settings—Power Series Weekend Intensives, Power Series Classes, Personal Mastery Training one-on-one with a Trainer, you name it. This way, you work out the kinks and actually make contact with the ball!

3: Confirm proper execution. Now you might be thinking, but Joey, I’m doing the thing. I’m executing the technique, what is there to confirm? Shouldn’t the results just start piling up? Well yes, they should. But as my martial arts master would always remind me (and I needed lots of reminding): Practice doesn’t make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect. So if you’re not quite getting the desired result, we double check that execution. When you engage with the Power Series, we teach you not only the tools, techniques and strategies for achieving your goals, we teach you how to use them properly and effectively, and we confirm your proper execution as part of the training.

4: Repetition. Once you have your tool, technique or strategy dialed in, the final step in our training process is repetition. This is where most coaching or “self-help” programs go south. They like to offer “quick and easy” results. Well, I hate to break to you, but there’s no such thing as quick and easy when it comes to mastery. Truly achieving the results you want and living a quality of life that most people will never know means putting in the reps. How many times do you suppose Tiger Woods swung the club before he got to be good…how many times before he was great…and how many more before he reached the level of mastery? Now I’m no expert on golf, but I feel pretty confident in saying that mastering our tools is a bit more straightforward than figuring out how to master golf. In any event, whatever aspect of life you’re looking to improve, the process is the same: repetition, repetition, repetition, until the execution becomes a reflex.

With the proper system of training, you will train, align, and rewire your emotions, thought strategies, and nervous system to achieve results in any and all aspects of your life. Our proven system has improved the lives of thousands of people. Don’t wait any longer to begin your journey toward mastery. Click HERE to learn more about the Power Series and sign up today!
