Paying It Forward

Maybe you saw the movie with that kid from The Sixth Sense. It was a little cheesy for my taste, but the message was solid as Sears. (Is Sears still a thing?) Maybe you read the book the movie is based on. Maybe you have no idea what I’m talking about. And if that’s the case, I’ll put it simply: Paying it forward is when someone does something kind for you, rather than paying the favor back to that person, you “pay it forward” by doing something kind for someone else. In the movie, The Sixth Sense kid starts the practice of paying it forward as part of a school project. At first, the kid’s acts of kindness (like letting a homeless drug addict live in his garage) only lead to other problems (like letting a homeless drug addict live in his garage). I guess if everything was sunshine and roses right off the bat, it wouldn’t make for much of a movie. But eventually we learn that the process of paying it forward has grown exponentially and dozens of people, not even remotely connected to The Sixth Sense kid, have been affected. Everyone comes to realize the power of paying it forward and everyone lives happily ever after. Well, except that The Sixth Sense kid gets stabbed to death at the end while trying to help his friend from being bullied. Not the way I would have gone, but I guess that’s why I don’t make movies.

I do, however, employ the practice of paying it forward. Throughout my life, I’ve been given so much by my mentors. You may hear me refer to them as masters, as each of them has truly achieved mastery in their area of focus. And each of them were willing to share their wealth of knowledge with me. I feel it is my duty to honor them today by paying forward all that they have given to me. Over the years, I have pulled together everything I’ve learned into this system of training. And I train our community members in this system so that they may go from a place of pain to a place of good, from good to great, or from great to absolutely ridiculous. This is my way of paying it forward, and I also train our Apprentices and Trainers to pay it forward as well.

I would like to invite you to start a practice of paying it forward. It might be something simple, like a person holding the door for you at the supermarket. As you’re pushing your cart up and down the aisles, keep your eyes open. You might find a little old lady who can’t reach the package of snickerdoodles on the top shelf. Or maybe, on your way out, you hold the door for the haggard looking mom who’s wrestling with a pair of toddlers and a cart full of groceries. Sometimes it’s the little things that count the most. But it also might be something really big. Like maybe you had a sick family member and you were so inspired by the kindness and selflessness of the medical professionals who helped them that you decide to go to medical school and pass those gifts on to others. Imagine a world in which everyone paid forward the kindness, the knowledge, the love that has been given to them.

People who participate in a Power Series weekend often come away with a list of people they know would benefit from the training. So we developed a way for them to pay it forward – our Refer-A-Friend Program. If you refer a friend, colleague, or family member, they can attend their first Power Series Weekend Intensive for just $200 (reg. $699), and you get 200 Refer-A-Friend credits to use toward one of our Mastery Track programs, like IM Reset or IM Evolution! Understand, this is not a sales pitch. This is a call to action. I developed Inner Matrix Systems with the vision of transforming people’s lives. Well, there are roughly 8 billion people in the world, and I can’t reach all of them on my own. What we’re offering is an opportunity for you to take what you’ve learned and pay it forward to the people in your lives.
