You Call It Meditation, We Call It Inner Training

You find a nice, quiet place. You sit comfortably, take some deep breaths and close your eyes. Maybe you use a mantra. Maybe you listen to music. Or maybe you prefer the dulcet tones of a recorded voice to guide you. You clear your mind and focus on the void.

Meditation.

Once considered to be new-agey claptrap, meditation has gone mainstream. If you’re new to meditation, there are books, articles, blogs, videos, classes and, yes, there’s an app for that. Or, more accurately, there are a thousand apps for that. Maybe you’re looking for a better night’s sleep, or to quell that anxiety. And that’s all well and good, but here at IMS we look to take meditation to the next level. We call it Inner Training.

What exactly do we mean by Inner Training? Let’s recall that your Inner Matrix is your unique set of thoughts and emotions that, in turn, drive your actions. With that in mind, we can think of Inner Training as being an exercise in training the emotions and thoughts that will drive the actions we need to take to create the results we desire. To put it simply, our Inner Training is outcome driven. Whether you are looking to build wealth, get into better shape, or improve your relationships, the first step to personal growth is getting your emotions in line with the outcome you want to achieve.

Let’s say, for example, you are unhappy in your job. You feel like you’re in a rut. There’s that dream job you’ve always wanted, but it just seems so far out of reach. Maybe you’ll need to go back to school. In order to free up the time to do that, maybe you’ll need to quit your job and take on some part time work to pay the bills. Maybe you’ll need to cut back on some of your extracurricular activities. It can all seem very daunting. And let’s face it, for most of us, change can be scary. When we run down the checklist of what it takes to make a big change in our lives, it can feel very tempting to throw up our hands and say, forget it. It’s just too hard. Because when we operate from a state of fear, the first thing our brain wants to do is shut that fear down. And the easiest way to do that is to avoid or run from it altogether.

But imagine facing a challenge from a state of passion. Welcoming, even creating change, with feelings of inspiration, optimism and empowerment. Our Inner Training practice gives you the tools to do just that. This isn’t your granddad’s meditation. (Well, your granddad’s probably never even heard of the word meditation, but you get the point.) The classic meditative technique is to clear the mind, to empty your head of all thoughts and distractions. And that certainly has its merits and applications. Inner Training is outcome driven meditation. It is about self mastery. We train you to pinpoint and cultivate the thoughts and emotions that align with the outcome you’re looking to create. Want to go after that dream job? We’ve got a tool for that. Want to get into amazing shape? We’ve got a tool for that. Want to improve your personal relationships? Yes, we’ve got a tool for that. Whatever your personal growth goals, our Inner Training will provide the tools to help you get there.
