Personal Transformation Stories: Overcoming Insomnia and Finding Tranquility
Sleep. It’s a weird thing when you think about it. We spend nearly a third of our lives in a dark room, curled up under blankets, in an unconscious state. On the one hand it may seem like, what a waste of time! But the truth is, the hours we spend sleeping are incredibly valuable. Sleep is a crucial component of our lives. It’s what allows our bodies and minds to recharge, it strengthens our immune system, and it plays an important role in the processing of memories. Most people need 7 to 9 hours of sleep a night to maintain proper cognitive and behavioral functions. Yet, according to the National Library of Medicine, 33% of adults suffer from chronic insomnia.
So what’s keeping ⅓ of the population from getting restful sleep? There are physical components to insomnia such as age and some health conditions. But for many people, it’s simply a battle with their brains. They just can’t seem to turn off the voice in their head that keeps chattering away throughout the night. For most people, that chattering voice is rooted in anxiety. That frazzled state where thoughts run amok. Part of the work we do here at IMS is designed to turn down the volume on anxiety, and make it the exception rather than the rule. We do that by addressing the underlying emotional state. Remember, it is our emotions that drive our thoughts and actions. By understanding our emotions and recognizing them for what they are, we can take ownership of our emotional state. We can learn how to shift from a fear-based state, where feelings of anxiety, fear, and shame live, to a love-based state where we can access peace, acceptance and tranquility. And what better place to be when you’re looking to get a good night’s sleep?
I get letters, notes, and emails from people who are eager to share with me the progress they’re making as a result of the work we do. I don’t share this to toot my own horn. I share because, although I can go on and on about how IMS training can bring positive results to your life, at the end of the day, the proof is in the pudding. So, with her permission, I would like to share with you a note I received from a new client, after she attended her first Power Series Weekend Intensive:
I was extremely skeptical of Inner Matrix Systems, but after years of not sleeping, years of using any and all medications (legal and otherwise) to sleep, I attended a [Virtual] weekend with the goal to work on sleep. By Saturday at 3pm, my life had changed. I went to take a nap, and for the first time in several decades, I fell asleep, medication free. I cannot believe that in 1 weekend you managed to help me escape from that inner prison I had created for myself. Last night I slept for 9 hours. This after decades of 2-3 hours of sleep a night. The peace, relief and joy you brought to my life, there are no words on how to thank you.
You took one of the biggest skeptics and changed my life. The application of what I learned from you is endless, and I have already started applying it to other major issues in my life. My marriage will forever be changed for the better, my job search now has new meanings and a new vision. What words could I possibly use to thank you? I guess I will say thank you, but multiply that by the stars in the sky. -Candi S., Los Angeles, CA
